The Traffic Hotel ( Jiaotong Fandian )  near Xinnanmen bus station has long been recognized by western backpackers as the best choice for budget accommodation in Chengdu. Although prices have risen in recent years, you can still manage to get a bed in a triple room with a fan and satellite TV for under RMB50. The hotel provides useful services including an informative message board with various travel information, a baggage room and a team of friendly staff ready to help with travel plans. The rooms here are clean and comfortable and the hotel is well situated for local restaurants, cafes and bars.
